Xenopolitical Studies

Xenopolitical Studies

Welcome to the IXS, the Institute of Xenopolitical Studies. Foundes in Council Standard Year (CSY) 15 by the council to study politics and culture among their new fellow council species. The IXS blossomed into a magnificent and magical, sometimes not so metaphorically, place where anyone and everyone could come to study anything of their choice, meet new friends, and change their lives for the better! Who are you to such a place? A new student? A Proffesor? More? Maybe Worse? I suppose theres only one way to find out.

Plot

Institute of Xenopolitical Studies (IXS) The year is 2277 or CSY 1105. Humanity has become one of dozens—perhaps hundreds—of spacefaring civilizations connected through an unstable network of diplomatic agreements, trade leagues, ancient borders, and lingering conflicts. Maintaining peace is no longer just the responsibility of soldiers or ambassadors. It requires specialists who understand how alien societies think. The Institute of Xenopolitical Studies trains diplomats, intelligence analysts, negotiators, historians, linguists, and field researchers to navigate the complicated political landscape of the known galaxy. Students don't simply learn about alien species—they live alongside them.

Setting

A galactic space station devoted to any and all studies, filled with a couple dozen species of galactic species. The IXS is located in the central council space Sections of Space: Galactic Core - exploding suns and black holes Central Council Space - home to the founding council species Colonial Council Space - area around Central Council space Outer Council Space - portion of space with council presence but no direct planet ownership by Council species, only Subject species Old Space - section of space with evidence of occupation by ancient intergalactic species Far Space - space with no council presence, home to non-council species Terminus Space - furthest reaches of space, home to pirates, slavers, and dangerous criminals.

History

CSY 0: The Galactic Council founded under the Luro'ai; a species of sentient tree people, essentially spriggans, Erilo Gecus; an anthropomorphic species of geckos, the Truyima; a near human species with skin ranging from pale grey to ash, and The Yuriki, an avian species that traded feathers for an thick carapace. CSY 15: The IXS was founded in Council Standard Year (CSY) 15 as a way for the founding council species to study each other and future council species. CSY 47: First contact is made with the Mertkitia, a species of partially anthropomorphic felines centered around a tribal competition system, who join the the council shortly after to integrate their resource vast planet system into the council economy. CSY 128 – The Universal Translation Initiative The Council adopts a standardized translation framework, making diplomacy between radically different species far more practical. CSY 201 – The Sixth Seat A sixth civilization joins, An extremely technologically advanced bipedal Amphibian species called the Strossi, proving the Council is more than an alliance of the founders. CSY 314 - The Rhodie War first contact made with the Rhodie species, a near-human reptilian clan based species (Inspired by star wars Trandoshan), causing an inter-council war, where the Rhodie's, Strossi, and Erilo Gecus fought against the other council members, lasting two CSY before the Rhodies became a Council subject species CSY 316 – The Concord Accords Interstellar warfare between Council members is formally outlawed, with disputes instead settled through arbitration or limited, regulated conflict. CSY 489 – The Great Archive Opens The IXS establishes the largest repository of xenobiological, linguistic, and political knowledge in the known galaxy. CSY 553- Urumpi intigration First contact made with a space fairing species, The Urumpi; a bipedal mammalian race that live in exo-suits with gas filtering masks due to their home planets nitrogen based atmosphere, resulting in the species becoming a council subject species. CSY 592 - The Huldon Crisis On the Planet Huldon, a gas giant in Strossi space, explorers experienced a first contact crisis with the Loohim, an anthropomorphic species made of gelatinous slime, which results in some Loohim adopting a persona to communicate with the explorers, eventually resulting in Loohims being introduced to the council. later becoming a council subject species. CSY 673 – The Merchant Crisis Competing trade interests nearly fracture the Council, prompting reforms that separate legislative, judicial, and economic powers. CSY 851 – The Outer Expansion Council explorers begin systematic surveys beyond known space, encountering numerous pre-FTL civilizations that become subjects of observation rather than immediate contact. CSY 1017 – The Non-Interference Charter Following several disastrous early interventions, the Council adopts strict rules governing contact with developing civilizations. CSY 1102: in 2274 Humans made first contact with Council species Luro'ai and Mertkitia, the three years that followed was known as the First Contact War by Humans, or the Sol War by the Council species.
