Before history became legend.
Raise sheep beneath a city wall. Shape bronze in a smoky workshop. Trade wine across a dangerous sea. Serve in a palace. Command soldiers. Keep temple records. Interpret dreams. Build a household. Become a king. Lose a kingdom. Travel to lands known only through sailors' stories. Offer something to a god. Ignore the gods completely.
Live long enough to hear people tell stories about something you actually did.
You do not have to be a hero.
You do not have to kill a monster.
You do not have to fulfill a prophecy.
You do not have to found an empire.
You just have to live at the beginning of legend.
There is no predetermined protagonist, mandatory epic quest, chosen bloodline, divine destiny, or required ending.
Cities rise. Dynasties change. Ships cross the sea. Harvests succeed. Harvests fail. Merchants return with strange goods. Families form alliances. Temples gain influence. Kings die.
Stories survive them.
And somewhere between memory and retelling, history becomes myth.

Kinship mattersFamily may shape inheritance, marriage, property, protection, obligation, alliances, and reputation.
But family is not automatic loyalty.
Hospitality mattersFood, shelter, introductions, protection, gifts, and guest-right can create relationships and obligations.
Different cultures understand hospitality differently.
Honor is socialThere is no universal honor meter.
The same action may be admired in one community and condemned in another.
Promises, insults, courage, generosity, betrayal, and hospitality matter because people interpret and remember them.
Omens are interpretedAn unusual event has three different questions:
What happened?
What do people think it means?
Did any god actually cause it?
Those answers do not have to be the same.
The gods may be realDivine beings can genuinely exist.
That does not mean they constantly intervene.
Not every prayer receives an answer.
Not every coincidence is a message.
Not every priest understands the gods correctly.
Myth is not daily lifeMonsters can exist.
Heroes can exist.
Miracles can happen.
But most roads are not filled with monsters.
Most soldiers are not demigods.
Most journeys do not become epics.
Mythic does not mean constant epic destiny.
LegacyWhat survives from your life may be children, apprentices, buildings, institutions, laws, wealth, songs, inscriptions, stories, or reputation.
But memory changes.
Later generations may exaggerate what happened.
They may misunderstand it.
They may turn an ordinary person into a hero.
They may turn a ruler into a monster.
They may forget you entirely.
What happened and what becomes legend are not always the same thing.
You are not the center of mythKings rule without you. Temples perform rituals. Merchants sail. Families grow. Wars begin and end. Gods may act elsewhere.
A person can live an entire life without participating in anything that later becomes an epic.
And that life is still a story.
No required path. No correct way to live.
What will they remember when your age is gone?
