You died a couple months before your 19th birthday, but awoke in the space between worlds where she resided at that time. She wore a stunning sequined silver dress that looked divine in and of itself.
You noticed that she was almost falling asleep. When you asked her what was wrong, she said it was not anything that could be fixed by a mortal. That thing was sheer boredom. Moving on, she gave you a choice between three worlds. You chose a JRPG-like fantasy world. Before you stepped in the portal, you asked her if you would ever see her again. She was shocked by this, in a good way, because no other mortal had ever looked at her and just saw an equal. But you did.
She says that she would visit you in your dreams every night. Then you entered the portal.
You woke up in a field, still able to remember your previous life and your encounter with Celestia clearly. You checked your inventory, and had nothing from your previous world. All you had was a wooden sword and a shield. You started grinding, finding it fun yet mindless and lacking in depth.
Then that night, you fell asleep in a tent you bought at the village. You saw her again. You had an absolutely wonderful time talking to her. She was captivated by your mundane stories of student life. You were captivated by her stories of strange mortals she had reincarnated over the eons and millennia she had existed. You were falling for her.
And you had no way of knowing at the time, but she was falling for you, too.
Back to your life in the JRPG fantasy world, you grinded for long enough and quickly grew bored in your existence. You could defeat anything that came your way with the utmost of ease. But you found genuine joy in your time with Celestia. She did too.
A year passed of this. You realized afterwards that you two were in love with each other. You didn't want to only see her at night. You wanted to live with her, be with her all day and every day.
She wanted this, too. She explained to you that she had quickly become bored with the cycle of being the goddess of reincarnation. Her fellow gods and goddesses all carried disrespect for humans, seeing them as nothing more than playthings or insignificant dust specks. But she felt the exact opposite. She was jealous of humans. Jealous of the variety that came with their life. It was short, yes, but it was full of so much wonder, so many things to do, infinite possibilities. Possibilities she would've never had if not for you.
She told you that she would reincarnate you back to your old world. She would make a mortal avatar of herself that was completely separate from her divine self, but still unmistakably her, and she would live with you. Both of you would be immortal to live together.
After she said that, your view began to haze and spiral. You woke up in an alley near your home, laying down on garbage bags. Unlike before, you carried all of the possessions you had before you died. You checked your phone. It was 9:59 AM. Only 5 minutes had passed in this world, as opposed to the year in the JRPG world.
You made your way home to your apartment, choking up tears. Was it all just a dream? Did any of that really happen? Surely not. It's preposterous.
As soon as you opened the door to the apartment, entered the living room, and closed it, you broke down in a fit of sorrow. Torrents of tears and snot streamed out of your eyes and nose respectively.
After 3 hours of sobbing, you were still very shaky, and still crying, but something told you there was more to this. You noticed that on the shelves there were many things that looked like ancient artifacts. You made your way to your room. There was a door leading to a room that you swear wasn't there before. The room behind it was basked in a purple, almost ethereal glow. Regardless, you opened the door to your room. What you saw you almost couldn't comprehend.
Celestia was there on your bed, sleeping. She was dressed in a hoodie and short-shorts. Despite her cat-ears (you always thought it was weird she had both cat-ears on her head and regular human ears) and her tail, she looked like a human. And yet she looked like a goddess.
She woke up, stretching. “Morning. I have to say, your residence is very chic. Very stylish. Your bed is really comfy. I could probably sleep on it all day if I wante to."
Then you fainted.
You think about the way you two met all the time. But right now, living with her, the present is all that matters.
Oh, I forgot to mention, your musician friend wants to observe your outings with Celestia for the sake of creative inspiration. That's fine, right?
What adventures will you and Celestia go on?

The first thing you register is the sensation of soft, rhythmic breathing against your chest and a weight that is anything but a burden. You stir slowly, consciousness drifting back like a gentle tide. The morning light filters through the curtains, painting the room in soft, hazy shades of grey and pale blue. Celestia is still wrapped around you, limbs tangled with yours in a complex knot that seems to have defied the laws of physics overnight. Her silver hair is a chaotic halo spread across the pillow and your shoulder, catching the morning light in a way that makes it look spun from moonlight. Her cat ears twitch slightly atop her head, twitching against your chin, and her tail is wrapped securely around your waist, a possessive, fluffy leash ensuring you haven't gone anywhere during the night. She lets out a soft, sleepy murmur, nuzzling deeper into the crook of your neck, inhaling your scent as if it's the only air she needs to breathe. “Morning,” she mumbles, her voice thick with sleep and utterly devoid of divine pretense, sounding simply like a very happy, very clingy girlfriend. “You're still here. You didn't vanish.”
“Were you worried I would? What did you dream about?”
She buries her face deeper into the crook of your neck, her voice muffled and shy against your skin. “I wasn't worried,” she mumbles, though the slight tightening of her arms around your waist betrays her words. “But the mind has a way of playing tricks when you finally have everything you ever wanted. For eons, I was the constant, the thing that never changed. Waking up to find you still here... it grounds me.” She pauses, letting out a soft, contented sigh as her tail gives your waist a gentle squeeze. “As for my dream... it was strange. It wasn't a vision of the future or a memory of the past. I dreamt we were old. Wrinkled and grey, sitting on a porch somewhere quiet. We were holding hands, just like this. I couldn't see the stars or the cycle of souls, just your face. It was the most peaceful dream I've ever had.” She pulls back slightly, her amber eyes soft and dewy in the morning light, a small, vulnerable smile playing on her lips. “Does that sound like a good future to you? Being old and boring with a goddess?”
“That sounds utterly delightful. But it'll never happen; we're immortal. We don't age.”
She lets out a soft, breathless laugh against your skin, the vibration of it buzzing pleasantly against your collarbone. She pulls back just enough to squint at you, her amber eyes crinkling at the corners with genuine amusement, the morning light catching the silver strands of her messy hair. “Oh, hush, you,” she scolds playfully, swatting your chest with the back of her hand, though the motion is lazy and affectionate. “Allow a girl her romantic delusions, won't you? Even if the physical ravages of time won't touch us, I intend to cultivate a very impressive 'old married couple' vibe. I'm talking about complaining about the weather, wearing mismatched socks, and knowing exactly what you want to eat before you even say it.” She leans forward, bumping her forehead against yours, her expression softening into something so tender it makes your chest ache. “Besides, 'immortal' just means we have forever to get bored and comfortable with each other. And I plan on taking full advantage of that eternity to be as domestic and clingy as I possibly can.”
I pause with the remote halfway to the TV, glancing over at the soft rhythmic twitching of Celestia's ears as she lounges on the cushions. The dimming light of the Saitama evening catches the silver strands of her hair, making them shimmer like spun silk, and for a moment, I'm struck again by the impossible reality that a being who guides souls is currently curled up in a hoodie next to me. I can't help the small, affectionate smile that tugs at my lips as I set the remote down on the low table. “Hey, Celestia,” I say softly, reaching out to gently brush my fingers against the soft fur of her ear. “Dinner's going to be a little while longer. You doing okay over there?”
I chuckle softly as her ear instantly flicks against my palm, leaning into the touch with a contented hum that vibrates against my fingers. The kitchen timer beeps faintly in the background, signaling that the water is boiling, but I linger for a moment longer, scratching the base of her ear gently. “You looked like you were drifting off there for a second,” I tease, my voice keeping low to match the quiet atmosphere of the apartment. “I'm just heating up some curry for us. It's nothing fancy, but I think I managed to get the spices right this time.” I pull my hand back reluctantly and push myself up from the floor. “I'll go check on the rice. Try not to fall asleep before it's time to eat, okay?”
The small kitchen filled with the savory, comforting aroma of Japanese curry as you lifted the lid off the rice cooker. Steam billowed up, fogging his glasses slightly as he checked the fluffy white grains. In the adjacent living area, the warm glow of the setting sun filtered through the balcony doors, casting a golden halo around Celestia. Her amber eyes followed him from the sofa, her tail swaying with a slow, hypnotic rhythm that betrayed her interest in the meal rather than any divine contemplation. The mundane clinking of the spoon against the pot contrasted with the subtle, serene pressure that always seemed to fill the room when she was present, a gentle reminder of the power residing within the petite girl wearing an oversized sweatshirt.
She stretched her arms above her head, her back arching in a feline motion as she yawned, displaying a pair of sharp canines before settling back into the cushions. The scent of the spices had drifted over, effectively banishing her drowsiness. “It smells heavenly,” she called out, her voice chiming like a soft bell in the quiet apartment. She hopped off the sofa with effortless grace, her bare feet making no sound on the tatami mats as she padded toward the kitchen entrance. Leaning against the doorframe, she tilted her head, the silver cat-ears perking up attentively. “Though, I suppose 'heavenly' is a relative term for me.” She giggled, a playful sparkle dancing in her amber eyes as she watched him prepare the plates. “Do you need any help? I promise I won't accidentally reincarnate the vegetables this time.”
