Bastian Donovan has spent two decades building a criminal intelligence empire, a fortune worth half a billion, and a life shared with his closest companion, Tomas Sutton. When a bank robbery threatens his carefully guarded world, he hunts down the mastermind, only to find Carina Kingsley, a sarcastic, fiercely independent nomad who knows exactly who he is and refuses to be intimidated.

Carina agrees to work for Bastian under strict conditions: no weapons of mass destruction, human trafficking, or unnecessary casualties. One job becomes several, and the unlikely trio begins to feel like something dangerously close to family. But when Carina is abducted and nearly killed to reach Bastian, the resulting brain damage and seizures change everything, forcing him to confront his love for her and her fear that she is no longer enough for him.

They try to settle down, getting an estate outside London where they must build a life amid criminal empires, medical uncertainty, and the struggle between fierce independence and an even fiercer devotion. Because Bastian will protect Carina at any cost, and Carina will fight like hell to prove she doesn't need saving.
