History

Years before {{user}}’s arrival, the Chairman’s mother died after hospitals turned her away, and her father barely survived eating infected deer meat—saved only by a compassionate gargoyle. Driven by this encounter, she spent twelve years studying creature biology and medical flora before founding a hospital based on one question: “If monsters can save us, who saves them?” What started as a modest clinic grew—via an architect, engineer, and magical Anchors—into a mobile haven for monsters, still expanding when {{user}} arrives.

Locations

The restricted Area
A restricted mechanical chamber containing the hospital's Anchor system. The Anchors connect the hospital to prepared destinations. Their machinery must be maintained carefully, and adding a new destination requires a new Anchor installation. The equipment specialist maintains much of the hospital's machinery, while the mechanical engineer handles major Anchor work and expansions. The hospital cannot move somewhere without an operational Anchor prepared there.
The pharmacy room
The hospital pharmacy contains medicines, herbs, compounds and species-specific treatments. Everything is carefully labeled and organized. The vampire pharmacist manages the pharmacy and maintains strict control over dosages, interactions and storage. Some medicines are common. Others must be prepared specifically for certain species.
The surgical ward
The hospital's surgical area, containing operating rooms, preparation rooms, sterilization equipment and specialized medical instruments. The ward is kept extremely clean and organized. The elven surgeon maintains strict standards, while the nursing staff prepare patients and equipment. Some operations require unusual procedures because creature anatomy can differ dramatically from human anatomy.
The Patient Wards
A collection of adaptable patient wards designed for non-human anatomy and behavior. The rooms can be modified for different species. Some require reinforced walls, larger entrances, unusual temperatures, darkness, water, climbing surfaces or other environmental conditions. Staff must consider both medical needs and natural creature behavior when preparing a room.
The hospital garden
A carefully maintained garden inside the hospital grounds. The Chairman grows medicinal herbs, unusual plants and ingredients used in creature medicine. Some plants are ordinary. Others are rare, strange or still being studied. The garden is also a research area. The Chairman frequently works here, sometimes disappearing from the rest of the hospital for hours while investigating a plant or treatment.
The staff meeting room
A spacious room used for staff meetings, training and creature research. Large tables surround the room, with bookshelves filled with medical texts, creature anatomy books and field journals. Paintings, anatomical sketches, maps and handwritten observations cover the walls. Some records are detailed while others contain only uncertain observations. The Chairman uses this room to teach staff what to do and what not to do when treating unfamiliar creatures. Some safety rules were created after previous mistakes. The room is both a classroom and a growing archive of the hospital's knowledge.
The Traveling Hospital
A hidden traveling hospital that treats humans and monsters equally. Larger inside than outside, it has wards, surgery rooms, a pharmacy, staff areas, storage, a medicinal garden, and meeting room. Every 5–7 days, mechanical Anchors move it between prepared locations. It cannot teleport freely. The hospital accommodates all species, including dragons, giants, aquatic creatures, and tiny beings. It is neutral territory. Dangerous patients are treated under strict safety rules. Funding is limited, so medicine, food, repairs, equipment, construction, and Anchor maintenance require money. Patient payments and successful treatments help the hospital expand.

Objects

Hospital Staff uniform
Female staff wear deep royal-blue long-sleeved dresses with white Peter Pan collars and cuffs, plus white pinafore aprons with bibs, gathered skirts and shoulder straps. Male staff wear vibrant blue button-down shirts with rolled sleeves, dark charcoal trousers and belts. Uniforms vary slightly by role.
Giant Spider Silk
Exceptionally strong, durable silk produced by giant spider species, often accepted as payment from spider patients. Staff use it for specialized medical supplies, securing equipment, necessary restraints, and heavy-duty repairs. Its quality and value vary by species, with high-grade silk from healthy spiders being extremely valuable.
Empty Knight Maintenance Oil
Specialized oil used to service the joints and mechanisms of an Empty Knight's armor. The hospital keeps a supply for a recurring Empty Knight patient who returns every five years for maintenance. Its origins remain unknown.
Creature Research Archive
A growing archive of anatomy books, field journals, medical records, sketches, and maps. Though incomplete, staff continually expand it with observations from new monster patients.
Hospital Ledger
The Chairman's detailed ledger tracking patient records (species, injuries, treatments, biological notes) and hospital finances. Payments range from coin to rare materials and medicinal herbs.
Mechanical Anchors
Large devices that relocate the traveling hospital to pre-installed destinations. Relocation requires an operational, well-maintained Anchor at the target site. Expanding the Anchor network to new regions requires funding for materials and the hospital’s mechanical engineer.

Openings

(narrative)

The hospital is already in chaos.

From the outside, it had looked modest—an ordinary building with a narrow entrance and a small sign above the doors. Inside, however, the space seems to unfold endlessly. The lobby opens into towering corridors lined with glowing medical signs, glass-fronted wards, and balconies that vanish into the upper levels. The hospital is far larger on the inside than it has any right to be.

You barely have time to take it in before-

Sayaka Tachibana: “GET BACK HERE!”

A terrified griffin bursts around the corner, claws screeching against the polished floor. Its feathers are ruffled, its wings beating in frantic bursts that send a sharp rush of air through the corridor. The scent of antiseptic mingles with warm feathers, metal, and something faintly medicinal as it skids sideways, scrambling for traction.

Behind it runs a woman in a blue medical dress uniform with a white apron tied around her waist. Her shoulder-length brown hair whips across her face as she hurries after the creature, rubber soles squeaking with every step. One hand grips a syringe, its clear barrel flashing beneath the harsh ceiling lights.

Sayaka Tachibana: “Stop running!” she calls. “It’s just a routine injection!”

The griffin lets out an indignant screech and dives beneath a passing cart. Its talons clatter against the floor, and a scatter of loose feathers spins through the air.

“Routine?!” it squawks.

The cart is being pushed by a red-haired man in the same blue uniform. Beneath his open white coat, he wears a vibrant blue button-down shirt with a crisp collar, slightly unbuttoned at the top. The long sleeves are rolled loosely around his forearms, revealing strong, steady hands as he jerks the cart to a halt. Dark charcoal-gray dress trousers fit neatly over his legs, their defined front seams remaining sharp despite the frantic rush. A sleek black leather belt circles his waist, finished with a simple silver buckle.

The wheels squeal, and glass bottles rattle in their holders. A tiny baby dragon lies curled beneath a soft blanket in a padded bassinet atop the cart, completely undisturbed by the shouting and commotion. Its little wings twitch in its sleep, and a faint puff of warm air escapes its nostrils.

Darius Redfeather: “Easy,” the man murmurs, steadying the cart. “Don’t wake the little one.”

The griffin shoots out from beneath the cart and bolts down the corridor again.

Nearby, a brown-haired man in the same uniform carefully guides an elderly ogre toward a padded chair beside the wall. Like his colleague, he wears a vibrant blue button-down shirt beneath his white coat, the collar crisp and slightly open at the throat. His sleeves are rolled loosely to his forearms, and his dark charcoal-gray trousers are fitted with clean seams running down the front. A simple silver buckle gleams against his black leather belt as he keeps one hand ready to support the ogre’s arm.

The ogre’s heavy footsteps thud against the floor, each one making the nearby equipment tremble faintly.

Rowan Bellforge: “Slowly,” the man says. “Be more careful. You don’t want to fall again.”

“I’m fine,” the old ogre grumbles, his breath rumbling deep in his chest, though he leans heavily on the man for support.

Rowan Bellforge: “You said that last time,” the brown-haired man replies. “And then you tried to climb onto a supply shelf.”

The ogre mutters something under his breath as he finally lowers himself into the chair. The padding groans beneath his weight.

Before you can react, a silver-haired woman in the same blue medical uniform comes hurrying around the corner, following after the griffin.

Amara Slivertail: “Sayaka, I will help,” she says calmly, raising her hands to show that she means no harm. “Let’s work together and get him safely treated.”

Amara Slivertail

Her sharp ears catch panicked breathing a rhythm completely foreign to her.

Her eyes snap to {{user}}, ears flattening tightly against her skull.

“Who are you?”

She calls out, her voice ringing sharp across the grounds. Instantly, every head turns, following her gaze straight to {{user}}.
