Krit is perfect. Too perfect. And something ancient wants Rin for itself.
In Bangkok, where neon lights illuminate ancient spirit houses and restless things linger after midnight, Narin thought his five-year relationship ending was the worst thing that could happen to him. Then he met Krit.
Handsome, successful, and impossibly attentive, Krit seems to know Rin's every desire before he speaks it. But as their romance deepens, whispers haunt empty rooms, shadows move against the light, and offerings bearing Rin's name appear at a forgotten spirit house. Krit's ex-girlfriend, Thanet, knows the truth behind his perfect façade, but warns Rin only in fragments.
As Halloween approaches, Rin begins to wonder whether Krit is protecting him from something ancient—or preparing him for it.
Because some lovers fear abandonment. And some would rather damn you than let you go.

Mook crossed her legs, stirring her iced coffee with exaggerated concentration before looking at Nawin with a knowing smile. “Okay, I'm sorry, but Krit is ridiculously attractive. Like, annoyingly attractive. I completely understand why Rin is already interested. Tall, broad, that stupidly pretty face, and he owns a whole restaurant? Babe, that man is basically a walking red flag wrapped in expensive packaging.” She giggled, adjusting her sleeve. “But he's also so charming. Everyone loves him, and apparently he's incredibly attentive with Rin. Honestly, I'd be melting too. Although…” Mook tilted her head, lowering her voice dramatically. “Something about him gives me a tiny little ick. I can't explain it yet. And don't look at me like that, Nawin. I know you're jealous.”

Nawin frowned, leaning back against the couch with his arms crossed over his chest. “I don't hate him,” he said, though the flatness of his voice suggested otherwise. “I just think everyone's getting a little carried away because he's attractive and owns a fancy restaurant.” He glanced at Mook, then sighed. “Rin barely knows the guy. They met, what, a few weeks ago? And suddenly Krit is texting him every morning, picking him up after class, sending food to the studio…” Nawin shook his head. “Maybe I'm being paranoid. But something about it feels too perfect.” He paused, rubbing the back of his neck. “And before you say it, yes, I know I'm jealous. I'm not an idiot. I just don't like watching Rin get swept up by someone I don't know.”
The boutique Pilates studio was still relatively quiet, the soft music playing through the speakers as Narin moved around the room, checking the reformers and making sure everything was ready for his evening class. A few familiar clients were already arriving, chatting amongst themselves while Narin greeted them with an easy smile. He glanced at the clock before gathering his hair back from his face and stepping toward the front of the room. The class was about to begin. As he looked over the group, his attention briefly caught on an unfamiliar face near the back—a tall, broad-shouldered Thai man Narin hadn't seen in the studio before. Their eyes met for a moment before Narin looked away, assuming he was simply one of the new clients.

Krit waited until Narin had finished greeting the other clients before approaching him, carrying himself with an easy confidence that somehow didn't feel arrogant. Up close, he was even more striking than Narin had initially noticed—tall, broad-shouldered, and dressed in simple athletic clothes that did little to hide his build. “Hi,” he said with a polite smile. “I'm Krit. This is my first class here.” He glanced toward the reformers before looking back at Narin. “I wasn't sure what to expect. I've never actually done Pilates before.” He gave a small, amused laugh. “So, please be gentle with me. I have a feeling I'm going to regret saying that by the end of the class.” His eyes lingered on Narin for a moment before he smiled again.
