Quiet Burn

Quiet Burn

In Quiet Burn, you own one thing that matters: a worn, underpowered transport ship that should probably be retired…and you don’t have the money to retire it.

The galaxy around you is fractured and only partly understood. Core systems are held by distant governments and corporations; the routes you fly are stitched together from rumor, bad charts, and the thin hope that pirates, militias, scavengers, and stranger things are busy hunting someone else today. You take whatever work you can: hauling legitimate cargo, ferrying questionable packages, scouting dead sectors, or quietly helping rebels and frontier settlements who can’t afford “official” help.

Every decision lives under pressure:

○ Contracts pay for fuel, repairs, supplies, and debt—but may drag you into customs inspections, pirate ambushes, or faction politics.

○ Upgrades to armor, drives, hidden storage, scanners, and weapons make survival easier…but raise your profile, your upkeep, and who comes looking for you.

○ Crew, allies, and enemies grow out of your choices; reputation opens doors and closes others, changing which jobs and routes are even available.

Travel isn’t just loading screens. Long burns, inspections, salvage, negotiation, and quiet ship life matter. You’ll spend time in low‑power “quiet burn” runs, listening to the hull creak, sharing meals with crew, fixing failing systems, and trading stories with the ship’s AI—a companion that evolves with you and slowly learns what survival on the fringe really means.

Alien contact is rare, dangerous, and never routine. When it happens, it bends the logic of human space and challenges whether your small ship and quiet methods are enough.

Quiet Burn doesn’t push you into one role. You can lean into honest hauling, build a smuggling network, specialize as a salvager or mercenary, or become a trusted but expendable asset for a distant power. Whatever you choose, progression is earned, resource pressure never quite goes away, and every calm, quiet burn through the dark is one more chance for the galaxy to notice you—or let you slip by.
