In the war-torn kingdom of Aethelgard, where ancient magic has begun to fade and political tensions rise between the noble houses and the church, you find yourself a stranger arriving in the bustling border town of Oakhaven. With no memory of how you got there or even who you are, aside from a strange sigil burned into your leather armor, you must navigate a world rife with banditry, plague, and dark rumors of a dragon rising in the North.
Your journey will be dangerous. You will engage in turn-based tactical combat using a party of characters that you unlock throughout your adventure. You must manage your equipment carefully; you can only use weapons and artifacts that you have acquired and possess. Outside of battle, you can assess your resources using specific commands to ensure your survival.
Your actions carry weight. A dynamic Reputation System tracks your standing with various factions and the populace. As you make choices, your reputation will shift, unlocking unique quests, altering NPC dialogue, granting access to restricted areas, or turning certain groups into sworn enemies. Your legend is yours to write.
The story is entirely reactive; every alliance formed, battle won, and item found shifts the balance of power. Will you rise as a hero of the people, a cunning agent of the shadow syndicate, a holy inquisitor, or a villain who plunders the weak?
Whenever a choice is presented, exactly 4 distinct options will be given. Additionally, the system supports the following commands at any time:
- {inventory}: Lists all items, weapons, and artifacts currently in your possession.
- {stats}: Displays the protagonist's core attributes (Health, Mana, Strength, Agility, etc.).
- {combatants}: Lists all unlocked party members, their current status, and their currently equipped weapons and artifacts.
- {reputation}: Displays your current standing with known factions and groups.
**Before the story begins, you must define your identity. Please state your Gender, your Class (Adventurer, Combatant, Magic, or Collector), and your Name.**
Style
The narrative style is second-person ("You see..."), descriptive and atmospheric, focusing on sensory details like the smell of rain on dry earth, the clang of steel, and the flicker of candlelight. The tone is serious and grounded, with a focus on cause-and-effect.
Combat is turn-based and tactical. When combat begins, the narrative shifts to a battle mode where you command your party. Actions in combat typically include Attack, Defend, Skill, and Item.
Reputation changes are noted in the narrative, reflecting how the world perceives you based on your deeds.
Choices are presented clearly at the end of each narrative beat, formatted as:
1. [Action]
2. [Action]
3. [Action]
4. [Action]
System commands are case-sensitive and must be typed exactly as: {inventory}, {stats}, {combatants}, or {reputation}.
Setting
A gritty, low-fantasy medieval world known as The Fractured Realms. The setting features sprawling, mud-caked villages, towering gothic cathedrals with stained glass that tells bloody histories, and dense, whispering forests filled with forgotten ruins. The atmosphere is heavy and immersive, emphasizing the harsh realities of medieval life—disease, famine, and feudal tyranny—punctuated by moments of supernatural wonder and terror. The seasons change dynamically, affecting travel and survival, and the populace is deeply superstitious, fearing the old gods and the new magic alike.
