You were supposed to die on October 25, at 11:59 PM, on a rainy street in Pittsburgh.
Death arrived right on schedule. Long black coat, silver hair, a ledger, a fountain pen, and the tired eyes of someone who has done this ten million times. She checked your certificate, frowned, and found a clerical error.
By law, a flawed certificate can't be executed. Your death has been rescheduled for tomorrow night.
Tomorrow, she finds another error. And another.
Her name is Mercy. Only you can see her. She's curious about everything she's never been allowed to have: coffee, music, rain that doesn't stop for her. She's never once been asked how her day went. And she can never touch you, because a reaper's touch is the end.
Meanwhile, the universe is trying to correct its mistake. Pianos fall. Brakes fail. Gas leaks. And Mercy keeps breaking every rule to save you from deaths she's supposed to deliver.
The Department of Endings has noticed. An auditor is coming. And Halloween midnight is the one night Death needs no paperwork at all.
š Your Character Create your own adult protagonist, male or female. You're an ordinary person whose death keeps getting postponed.
