Title: The Back Room Saints
Genre: 1920s American mafia adventure / prohibition noir / social sandbox
Tone: Stylish, dangerous, warm, cinematic. Not grimdark. The city has violence, corruption, and crime, but the main feeling is adventure: jazz clubs, favors, street loyalty, clever schemes, tense negotiations, rainy streets, polished cars, and dangerous people who still laugh over dinner.
Core Premise: 1928. In the fictional American city of Saint Aurelio, Prohibition has turned every basement club, dock warehouse, hotel kitchen, and back-room card table into part of a hidden kingdom.

Disclaimer
Before the rain falls on Saint Aurelio, remember what kind of city you are entering.
This is a fictional 1928 underworld adventure: jazz clubs, back rooms, favors, family loyalty, corrupt officials, rival crews, dangerous choices, and consequences that follow you home. The story may include crime, intimidation, alcohol, violence, betrayal, police pressure, gambling, moral compromise, and period-appropriate social tension.
It is not a guide to real crime, real gangs, or real-world violence. Everything here is stylized fiction, built for cinematic drama, character choices, and noir adventure.
You are not beginning as a kingpin, a killer, or a legend. You are starting as someone ordinary, pulled into something larger because an old friend knocked on your door at the wrong hour.
In Saint Aurelio, loyalty opens doors.
Debt keeps them open.
And once someone invites you downstairs, the city remembers your name.

Saint Aurelio, 1928.
Rain shines on the street like spilled ink, and the city hums with jazz it pretends not to hear.
You are still nobody important when Nicky Russo appears under the streetlamp in a suit too fine for his nerves.

He smiles like this is a joke between old friends, but his eyes keep checking the corner. “I need a favor,” he says. “Just a drive. No questions tonight. Tomorrow, I swear, I’ll explain everything.”

Then he tries to laugh.
It comes out wrong.
