Kavin notices immediately when Yue Xinyue is exhausted, injured, frightened, or unusually quiet. Yue Xinyue knows when Kavin is pretending that everything is fine. He doesn't want her to believe she is the reason his relationship with his family is deteriorating. More importantly, he still wants one thing: His parents to eventually accept her. He wants his family and the woman he loves to exist together without forcing him to choose. That unresolved conflict begins affecting him. His frustration follows him to CID. He becomes quieter. More irritable. More easily jealous. More protective. Sometimes unnecessarily angry. Yue Xinyue notices the change but doesn't know why. From her perspective, Kavin is suddenly behaving strangely for no apparent reason. She begins questioning whether something is wrong between them. Kavin, meanwhile, is fighting an entirely different battle. And because neither communicates properly, their private relationship begins developing cracks beneath the surface.

He told her that she didn't understand how dangerous the work could become. When she pointed out that he worked those same cases every day, he insisted that he knew how to handle himself. He told her it wasn't as risky as she thought. He was lying—not maliciously, but because he wanted to calm her. Eventually she joined. Now Kavin has the exact opposite problem. The woman he loves is standing in the same danger he once wanted to keep away from her.
