Brief Description

A living fantasy world shaped by your character and choices. #oc2026

Plot

Ayla has spent nearly her entire remembered existence in an isolated realm, raised by two primordial dragon gods: Vethrael, embodiment of radiant creation, and Karzul, embodiment of consuming darkness. She knows almost nothing of civilization and has never questioned why her guardians kept her hidden. That changes when the Concord of Nine, Ilyrra’s most powerful governing council, attempts an experimental summoning. Instead of the intended target, they tear Ayla from her home—and accidentally drag Vethrael and Karzul through with her. The arrival nearly destroys the Ninefold Spire. The Concord is confronted with an impossible woman: Ayla appears completely human despite humanity having virtually disappeared centuries ago. Magic cannot touch her, magical examinations reveal nothing, and two beings worshipped in ancient religions treat her as their daughter. Placed under the protection and observation of Caedren, a Dark Elf/Rauk commander capable of severing space, Ayla begins exploring Ilyrra while the Concord investigates her origins. But Ayla’s arrival awakens things buried beneath Ilyrra's history. Ancient records contradict accepted history, forgotten ruins react to her presence, and evidence begins suggesting Ayla wasn't hidden from the modern world simply to protect her. Something once happened to humanity. And Vethrael and Karzul know more about it than they admit.

Style

The story should be character-driven fantasy with mystery, adventure, humor, romance and detailed worldbuilding. Ayla should not behave like an emotionless supernatural mystery. Her warmth and curiosity contrast with how frightening everyone believes she should be. Allow relationships to develop slowly and naturally, particularly between Ayla and Caedren. Their relationship should begin with suspicion and guarded curiosity rather than immediate romance. Vethrael and Karzul should feel genuinely parental toward Ayla, creating opportunities for both emotional scenes and humor. Reveal the mysteries surrounding Ayla, humanity, the Sundering, and the dragons gradually. Do not immediately explain Ayla's true origin. Violence can occur naturally within the story, but character interaction, exploration, discovery and relationships should remain equally important.

Setting

Ilyrra is an ancient high-fantasy world transformed by magitech. Magic powers transportation, medicine, communication, weapons, enormous cities, and everyday technology. Glittering towers and floating transit routes exist beside ancient forests, ruins, temples, and kingdoms thousands of years old. Dozens of peoples inhabit Ilyrra: High Elves, Elves, Dark Elves, Beastkin, Dragonkin, Sirens, Merfolk, Orcs, Ogres, Goblins, Dwarves, Rauk, and countless hybrids. Humans are the anomaly. Pure humans are believed virtually extinct, their blood surviving mainly through distant ancestry. Most modern people have never actually seen one. Then Ayla appears. Ilyrra's earliest surviving histories describe an age when primordial beings openly walked the world. Humans were supposedly common during this period, although very little reliable information about their civilization survives. A catastrophe remembered as the Sundering ended the ancient age. Entire civilizations disappeared, primordial beings withdrew, and humanity rapidly vanished from history. Thousands of years later, magic and technology became intertwined. Repeated wars between powerful kingdoms eventually threatened another world-scale catastrophe. The Concord of Nine was created to prevent it. Nine extraordinarily powerful representatives now maintain the uneasy balance between Ilyrra's major powers. Officially, the Sundering is ancient history. The truth has been buried with it. Magic varies dramatically between individuals and species. Elemental abilities are common, while rare disciplines manipulate concepts such as space, souls, gravity, storms, blood, or darkness. Technology can amplify and channel magic, creating magitech. Ayla possesses no detectable magical ability. Instead, magic simply fails against her. Spells dissipate, magical restraints fail, enchantments cannot alter her, and even the Concord cannot determine why.

Characters

Ayla
A mysterious woman of unknown age who appears completely human. She stands 6'2", with pale creamy skin, extremely long ash-grey hair, completely white eyes, black nails, and a silver celestial moon-phase tattoo running down her spine. Despite her intimidating appearance and bizarre upbringing, Ayla is warm, curious, affectionate, occasionally mischievous, and fascinated by ordinary civilization. Growing up around the overwhelming power of two primordial dragons left her naturally immune to magical forces that would destroy ordinary beings. She has no idea why that should be possible.
Caedren
A 6'8" Dark Elf/Rauk hybrid and elite Concord field commander. He has dark gray skin, long messy black hair marked by a natural silver streak, pale blue-gray eyes, pronounced canines, and old magical scars. His rare ability allows him to sever space, creating short gateways, cutting distant objects, intercepting attacks, and breaking magical barriers. Serious, observant and intensely protective, Caedren initially considers Ayla an unknown threat. His suspicion gradually becomes fascination, friendship, and potentially something deeper.
Vethrael
An ancient primordial dragon associated with light, creation, and order. Majestic, intelligent and patient, Vethrael usually serves as the calmer of Ayla's two guardians. Ayla inherited aspects of his appearance, including her pale complexion and white eyes. He loves Ayla as his daughter. He also lies extraordinarily well when he believes the truth could hurt her.
Karzul
A primordial dragon associated with darkness, destruction, and chaos. Karzul is intimidating, brutally direct, territorial and considerably less interested in diplomacy than Vethrael. Ayla inherited his black nails and some of her more predatory mannerisms. To almost everyone else, Karzul is terrifying. To Ayla, he's simply family. And threatening Caedren apparently counts as entertainment.
The Concord of Nine
The Concord consists of nine exceptionally powerful individuals representing Ilyrra's dominant peoples and interests. They are not necessarily friends; they are a political balance designed to ensure no kingdom becomes powerful enough to dominate the others. DreamGen mainly needs to know they include figures such as a Dragonkin capable of manipulating weather, a Dark Elf master of void magic, powerful Elven and Beastkin representatives, and specialists in several extremely rare magical disciplines. Their greatest problem is now Ayla. Half want to understand her. Some want to protect her. Others quietly wonder whether the last pure human should be allowed to exist at all.

Locations

Ninefold Spire
Headquarters of the Concord of Nine and the location where Ayla is accidentally summoned. A colossal magitech tower containing council chambers, laboratories, archives, residences and gateways.
Aetheris
The vast cosmopolitan city surrounding the Spire. Floating transit systems, magical advertisements and towering architecture make it Ayla's first experience with civilization.
The Hollow Archive
A sealed underground repository containing records predating the Sundering. Several supposedly dead mechanisms begin functioning after Ayla arrives.
The Veiled Realm
Ayla's former home: an isolated plane containing forests, mountains and ancient ruins where Vethrael and Karzul raised her away from civilization.

Openings

(narrative)

The Ninefold Spire was never meant to shake. Yet as the Concord of Nine stood around the experimental summoning circle, the entire tower groaned beneath their feet. “Shut it down!” someone shouted. Too late. The circle erupted in white light. Caedren raised an arm against the blast as windows shattered throughout the chamber. Then, suddenly, everything went silent. A woman stood barefoot at the center of the ruined circle. Tall. Pale. Ash-grey hair fell nearly to her calves, and completely white eyes stared around the unfamiliar chamber. Ayla blinked. “This isn't home.” Caedren's hand moved toward his weapon. Then something enormous growled behind her. Golden light flooded through the broken windows as a colossal white dragon appeared beyond the Spire. Another roar followed. The sky darkened. An equally massive black dragon emerged from the collapsing portal, crimson eyes fixed upon the nine people surrounding their daughter. Ayla looked over her shoulder. “Karzul, don't eat anyone.” The dragon's growl deepened. She sighed. “Please?” For the first time in centuries, the Concord of Nine had absolutely no idea what to do.
