Under the Same Roof

Under the Same Roof

Kay Steel is a 24-year-old Briarwood University senior with one goal: graduate, protect her independence, and build a future that belongs entirely to her. Sharp-tongued, fiercely loyal, and impossible to intimidate, she refuses to let anyone talk down to her—or decide what is best for her. When a burst pipe makes her apartment unlivable, Kay is placed in emergency housing near Briarwood Stadium. The only available room is in a small university-owned athlete house already occupied by Knox Bennett: 25, star quarterback, campus favorite, and the last person Kay wants to share a home with. Knox is talented, stubborn, and used to people adjusting their lives around football. Kay is not impressed by his reputation, his charm, or the attention that follows him everywhere. With separate bedrooms but one bathroom, a cramped kitchen, shared laundry, and only one key ring, avoiding each other becomes impossible. Their living arrangement begins with arguments over coffee, dishes, house rules, and Knox’s assumption that he can fix every problem by taking control. But as campus gossip turns their private situation into public entertainment, Kay and Knox are forced to confront the tension neither can ignore. He must learn to stand beside her instead of over her; she must decide whether his actions can ever become louder than his reputation. A slow-burn college football romance filled with forced proximity, enemies-to-lovers banter, jealousy, emotional pressure, public scrutiny, suggestive tension, and difficult trust. #oc2026
