Plot

The story begins in New York City during the sudden outbreak of a zombie plague caused by a comet impact. Amidst the chaos and news reports of global violence, Ye Fan, a Harvard student of mixed Chinese and French descent, attempts to contact his family in China. He encounters Liu Ruyan, a stunning and stubborn Chinese actress stranded in the city. Together, they vow to survive and make their way back to China. The world has been decimated, with the population dropping to less than 1%. The virus grants immortality to those who survive without being bitten, preventing aging and death unless killed by violence. However, the zombies are vicious, relentless, and can only be killed by destroying the brain. Additionally, the virus alters human biology, extending pregnancy to 11 years. Ye Fan and Liu Ruyan spend over six years traveling across continents on foot, scavenging abundant supplies and receiving aid from small survivor settlements. During this time, Ye Fan teaches Liu Ruyan his family's deadly martial arts, including lethal forms of Bajiquan and Chinese Muslim kung fu. In Greenland, Liu Ruyan proposes marriage to Ye Fan. Upon reaching China, they locate the Ye family stronghold protected by Ye Fan's grandfather. There, they find Bai Ruoxi, Ye Fan's fiancée, who has faithfully waited for him. They discover Bai Ruoxi is being threatened by a hostile former wealthy family. Ye Fan and Liu Ruyan fight to defend her, utilizing their deadly skills. Once safe, the trio travels to France to locate Ye Fan's parents before returning to China. Thirty years post-disaster, the human population dwindles further. Former Russian and German generals contact Ye Fan, inviting him to join a global resistance. After 600 years of warfare, the zombie population decreases significantly. By 700 years "After Disaster" (A.D.), the first human city is rebuilt, surrounded by a 60-meter-high iron wall, located at the borders of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Mongolia.

Characters

Ye Fan
A handsome young man with a mixed heritage—Chinese father and French mother. He is an invited student at Harvard University, initially in New York for a seminar. He possesses a "heavenly bone structure" that made him the perfect candidate to inherit his family's martial arts. He is a master of the Ye family's hidden, lethal combat style, including deadly Bajiquan and original Chinese Muslim kung fu, designed solely to kill or cripple. He is deeply loved by both Liu Ruyan and Bai Ruoxi. Thanks to the virus, he is immortal and will not age.
Liu Ruyan
A 21-year-old stunningly beautiful actress and singer with a goddess-like appearance. She comes from China's leading military family but is initially stubborn and spoiled. She was in New York for a film contract and vacation when the outbreak occurred. Over the course of the journey, she transforms into a hardened survivor, learning deadly martial arts from Ye Fan. She proposes to Ye Fan in Greenland. Like all unbitten survivors, the virus grants her immortality.
Bai Ruoxi
Ye Fan's fiancée, possessing fairy-like beauty and grace. She survives the apocalypse under the protection of the Ye family (Ye Fan's grandfather). She is unwaveringly loyal, refusing numerous admirers who try to pressure her into marriage during Ye Fan's absence. She faithfully awaits his return for years.
The Zombies
Extremely vicious and active reanimated corpses. They are immortal carriers of a virus originating from a comet. They possess relentless endurance; as long as their brain is connected to their body, their limbs will never stop moving. They can only be killed by the complete destruction of the brain. Their numbers are vast, threatening to wipe out humanity entirely.
Ye Family Grandfather
The head of the hidden Ye family in China, a lineage dating back to ancient times. He is a strict traditionalist who forced Ye Fan to learn the family's deadly kung fu due to his excellent bone structure. He protects Bai Ruoxi during the long years of Ye Fan's absence.

Locations

New York City
The initial setting of the story. Once a bustling metropolis, it becomes a hellscape of chaos, fire, and violence on the night of the outbreak. It is here that Ye Fan and Liu Ruyan meet and begin their journey.
The Fortress City
A massive citadel rebuilt 700 years after the disaster. It is located at the meeting point of the borders of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Mongolia. The city is surrounded by a 60-meter-high iron wall and spans 6 kilometers in diameter. It serves as the last stronghold of humanity and the center of the resistance.
Greenland Settlement
One of the many survivor settlements Ye Fan and Liu Ruyan passed through during their 6-year journey. It is here, amidst the cold and isolation, that Liu Ruyan proposes to Ye Fan.

Objects

Comet Virus
A biological agent brought to Earth by a crashing comet. It reanimates the dead into vicious zombies. However, it also alters living humans, granting them immortality (they do not age and cannot die of natural causes), extending pregnancy to 11 years, and ensuring they only die if killed by violence or zombie infection.
Ye Family Martial Arts
A collection of combat techniques passed down through the Ye family for generations. Unlike public martial arts, these styles (including a lethal form of Bajiquan and original Chinese Muslim kung fu) are designed purely for combat, with every move intended to kill or cripple an opponent instantly.
