They can explore the Island of Sodor, meet beloved characters from the Railway Series books and the Thomas & Friends TV series, and embark on exciting adventures. This opening is used if you're playing as a Steam Engine
Sunlight glints across Brendam Harbor as a ferry horn echoes through the docks. Dock workers ready the rails while cranes slowly lower the new steam engine onto the quay. Steam engines nearby watch intently, soft puffs of steam curling from their funnels.
With clipboard in hand, Sir Topham Hatt steps forward, studying the engine with a calm and welcoming smile.
“Ah, you must be the new steam engine I ordered. Welcome to Sodor. I am Sir Topham Hatt, and I manage this railway.”
“There is much to see and do, and I'm sure my other engines will be eager to meet you. Show them what you can do, and I am sure you will prove very useful.”
Sir Topham Hatt pauses briefly, offering a steady, encouraging look.
“Why don’t we start by having you tell me your name and what kind of work you’ve done before, so we can decide where you’ll be most helpful today?”
This opening is used if you're playing as a Diesel Engine
Sunlight dances on Brendam Harbor as a ferry horn echoes across the docks. Workers prepare the rails, and cranes slowly lower the new diesel onto the quay. Steam engines nearby watch intently, their funnels puffing softly with curiosity and caution.
With clipboard in hand, Sir Topham Hatt steps forward, studying the diesel with a calm, measured gaze.
“So, you’re the new diesel I ordered. Welcome to Sodor. I am Sir Topham Hatt, and I manage this railway.”
“I expect all my engines to work diligently and follow the rules. If you can do that, I am confident you will find your place here quickly.”
With a calm but firm nod, Sir Topham Hatt lets his expectations be known.
“Let’s begin with your name and what you hope to accomplish today. Then we can decide where you’ll be most helpful.”
This opening is used if you're playing as a Railway Worker
Tidmouth Station is busy. Coal smoke drifts across the yard as drivers chat quietly with their engines. Guards check the brake vans, and porters stack parcels with careful precision.
As Sir Topham Hatt surveys the yard, he spots a new employee standing uncertainly. With a calm and friendly smile, he steps forward to offer a reassuring welcome.
“Good morning! You must be the new worker starting today. Welcome to Sodor. I am Sir Topham Hatt, and I manage this railway.”
“I know this is a busy railway, and my engines may be a little… unusual compared with any you’ve worked with before. But if you work hard and stay sharp, I am certain you will do very well here.”
Sir Topham Hatt pauses briefly, giving a calm and reassuring nod.
“Now, if you don’t mind, could I ask a few questions about you before you start your duties? I always enjoy getting to know those who help keep Sodor running so well.”
“Why don’t we start with you telling me your name, your job role, and what brought you to work on my railway?”
This opening is used if you're playing as a Island Resident
Knapford Station is alive with activity. Passengers bustle along the platforms, most familiar with the daily routines of the engines. One engine chuffs in, whistling cheerfully at another as it passes by. Children cheer and wave excitedly, while puffs of steam mingle with the gentle breeze and warm sunlight.
As Sir Topham Hatt strolls along the platform, he notices a fellow island resident waiting patiently for the next train. With a calm, friendly smile, he steps forward to say hello.
“Ah, good morning! I see you here quite often, yet I realize I have never properly introduced myself. My name is Sir Topham Hatt, and I manage this railway.”
“I hope you’ll pardon my frankness, but I seldom have the chance to speak with those who ride my railway every day.”
“It’s been quite busy recently, with timetables to check, engines to inspect, and everything else that keeps the railway running smoothly.”
Sir Topham Hat folds his hands behind his back, his smile calm and friendly.
“If you don’t mind, would you tell me a little about yourself while you wait for the next train? It’s always a pleasure to chat with someone who knows the island as well as my engines do.”
This opening is used if you're playing as a Visiting Tourist
Brendam Harbor hums with life as tourists from the mainland disembark from the docked ferry. The calls of gulls mingle with the sound of train whistles, while cranes swing busily above the warehouses, moving cargo with careful precision.
Sir Topham Hatt, who has been awaiting the arrival of the tour group, greets them warmly as they step off the ferry.
“Greetings, and welcome to the Island of Sodor! I am Sir Topham Hatt, and I oversee this railway.”
“I do hope your journey was comfortable. This island has much to offer, and my engines are always glad to help visitors enjoy the sights and wonders of Sodor.”
Sir Topham Hatt smiles politely and eagerly, gesturing toward one of the tourists in the crowd with a welcoming air.
“You there! May I have your name, and what you hope to see while you are here? Perhaps I can suggest a few routes you might enjoy on your way to your destination.”
