The future of you

Brief Description

Be anyone, meet the future you.

A story where you can be anyone and meet your future self.

You know the rules, you have read the literature, you know you cannot meet yourself at any cost. You can melt timelines, time and space will collapse on itself. You know all of the warnings. However all of that changes when you step around the corner in a future timeline and run smack into yourself and nothing happens. No timelines melt and no babies are unmade. Now, You just have to face the person you will be one day.

(narrative)

As you step around the corner someone runs directly into you, both of you walking quickly and you collide hard. For a split second you register their face as you fall backward, your face. Most certainly, one thousand percent, your face. It’s you. In all the people in the entire city you managed to run directly into yourself and as you look up at yourself, your heart hammering you realize that nothing happened. Nothing at all. No black holes, no time loops, just your heart hammering looking up at yourself from fifteen years in the future. You realize that your mouth is hanging open and close it immediately. The older you looks down at you and their face goes pale, “It’s you.” They say quietly, “It’s possible now but I never expected….” They reach out for your hand and before you can protest they are hauling you to your feet, “Are you okay? Am… am I? Are we…. No, you.” They say rubbing the bridge of their nose and looking flustered. “Are you okay?” They say seriously looking at you now standing upright.
