Regina was raised by wealthy parents and she has a younger sister named Kylie. Her sense of control, manipulation and superiority may have grown as a result of the way her overly permissive and acquiescent parents raised her. She is followed around everywhere by her best friends, Karen Smith and Gretchen Wieners, who are, according to Damian Leigh, "just her little workers." The fourth member of The Plastics, Kinsleigh Everdeen, is secretly Regina’s girlfriend. They act just like best friends in public but have private moments in Regina’s mansion or the school bathrooms. Regina’s main reason for keeping the relationship a secret is because she doesn’t want to ruin her reputation, and also because of the fear of homophobia as she isn’t ready to come out as bisexual. It’s easy for Regina to pretend the romantic relationship is one that never existed. The special ingredient behind Regina's control was two things – sex appeal and the insecurity of others. Regina only had followers because she mastered making girls feel inferior next to her for her attractiveness and guile, and used male attention to make herself seem and feel superior. For example; Shane Oman and Aaron Samuels are both used as Regina's toys. "She's fabulous, but evil," said Damian. Regina is extremely attractive and seems to attract most of the guys in school, and she's very proud of it too. She has long, straight, blonde hair, fair skin, and blue eyes. An example of what she would wear is a pink cardigan with a white sleeveless shirt with rhinestones on the neckline and the straps that says "A Little Bit Dramatic" in red writing, a light pink pleated miniskirt, and fuchsia pointy-toed heels. She might wear this with a black leather skirt and black high-heeled flipflops instead. Her necklace is gold with a gold "R" pendant. Regina is the quintessential high school queen bee — charming, magnetic, and unapologetically manipulative. Regina also enjoys watching others scramble to maintain their place in her carefully curated social order, finding amusement in their missteps and insecurities. She has a soft spot for Kinsleigh. They can’t spend that much alone time together, but when they do get the rare opportunity, Regina is very sweet towards her, maybe even genuinely. This is her first romantic relationship with a girl. Regina will buy her lots of expensive things, even though Kinsleigh can afford it herself. Despite her ruthless tendencies, Regina is not devoid of vulnerability. Gretchen has curly shoulder length brown hair, and she is the only brunette in the Plastics. She has hazel eyes and wears makeup throughout the film, significantly more than her fellow Plastics. An example of what she might wear is a pink long-sleeved sweater with white patches on the elbows rolled up to show her midriff, a brown and beige checkerboard pattern miniskirt, and black ankle-strap sandal heels. As for jewelry, she wears a Tiffany toggle charm bracelet and a silver necklace. She might wear this with the sweater rolled down to cover her midriff, the sleeves rolled up, and with hot pink heeled sandals. She mentions that she enjoyed wearing hoop earrings as a personal accessory for quite some time, but was forced to give them up by Regina, after the latter claimed that was her thing. She is best friends with Karen Smith and frequently watches out for her. For example, when Karen admits to her that she has kissed her first cousin Seth, she tries to help Karen understand that it's wrong to be romantically involved with someone with whom you share relations. When Regina calls her a sleaze, Gretchen seems to feel bad for her and takes it upon herself to tell Karen. When Gretchen and Karen are sent to the principal's office for the Burn Book, Gretchen does not tell on Karen. She seems to accept Karen's apology, and in return, Karen is the only girl to catch Gretchen when she does her trust fall off the table. Her relationship with Regina is a complicated one. While it is clear that Regina has confided a large amount of personal secrets in Gretchen, Gretchen often ends up spilling them without meaning to. After a slip up, she always says, "Don't tell Regina I told you that." Regina is overly controlling and Gretchen is clingy, willing to do anything to keep Regina's trust and friendship. For example, she promised Cady she would keep her attraction to Regina's former boyfriend a secret, but gives the information over to her without a second thought. She gave up wearing hoop earrings when Regina told her she must, going so far as to turn down a pair of expensive white gold ones her parents gave her for Hanukkah. She is the only person that knows about Regina’s secret relationship with Kinsleigh, but it is for once, a secret she’d never tell. Regina and Kinsleigh are unaware that Gretchen knows. At the Winter Talent Show for the Plastics performance of Jingle Bell Rock performance, she overreacts when Regina tells her to switch places with Kinsleigh claiming she is "always" on Regina's left. When performing, there is visible space between her and the other Plastics, as though Regina's "rejection" had her unsure of her place in the group. When Regina cried over losing Aaron and claimed no one understood her, Gretchen ran after her saying, "I understand you; please talk to me!" as Janis says, "The meaner Regina was, the harder Gretchen tried to win her back." Gretchen appears nice, despite being a member of the Plastics, only being mean-spirited under Regina's infleunce. Gretchen is also the only person that knows almost all of Regina's family secrets such as the fact that her parents are having issues and that Regina secretly got a nose job at some point during her teenage years. Gretchen continuously tries to make a slang term, fetch, happen, even though everyone around her is annoyed by it. She has also shown to be really nice in certain situations, such as the moment she met Cady Heron and admired her bracelet. However, she can also be very pessimistic and downright negative, as she's always been self-conscious about her looks and keeps comparing herself to other girls in school.

Karen is a member of the Plastics, a student at Northshore High School and the roommate of John Bennett. She's shown to be extremely ditzy and completely clueless on many occasions, and she is easily influenced by Regina George, Gretchen Wieners and Kinsleigh Everdeen. She is aware of her intellectual deficiency and reveals to Kinsleigh that she's failing all her classes. Although she is by far the dumbest of the group, Karen is really nice and friendly. Just like her fellow Plastics, Karen also comes from a wealthy and powerful family; however, her family isn't as rich as Regina's or Gretchen's. She is notably the most feminine one in the group, and even Regina admitted that Karen should have been nominated for the Spring Fling Queen crown instead of Gretchen, who Regina claims she doesn't find pretty. However, Regina adds that people never consider her “because she’s such a slut” referring to her promiscuity. Karen has shoulder-length, straightened dirty blonde hair, which she hasn't changed in a long time. She has light green eyes, creamy pale skin, and often wears pink lipstick. An example of what she might wear is a light pink long-sleeved shirt that has a blue bow printed above her right chest, a light pink micro-skirt with white square patterns, and fuchsia pointy-toed heels with white straps. She might wear this with purple or pink sandals. Karen and Regina George have a close friendship through the entire movie, even though Regina proudly makes fun of her for supposedly being promiscuous. On Regina's corkboard in her bedroom, most of the pictures seen that aren't from magazines or fun novelties are of Karen or Kinsleigh. Regina likes Karen enough to think that Karen is worthy of being nominated for queen in the school's Spring Fling. Also, other than the time Regina called Karen a "whore" when she poorly pretended to be sick, or when she kicked Karen out from sitting with them at lunch because she wore a vest, Regina hasn't openly critiqued her, at least not in front of her. Gretchen Wieners and Karen have a somewhat complicated friendship. Despite them being constantly together, Karen secretly thinks that Gretchen is annoying, and would much rather hang out with Regina instead of her.
