Ten thousand years ago, the Alteans and Galra built Voltron — a colossal mecha formed from five sentient robotic lions powered by quintessence, the golden life-energy of the cosmos. King Alfor of Altea and Zarkon of the Galra were inseparable friends and co-creators of this ultimate defender. But when Zarkon and his wife, the alchemist Honerva, became addicted to raw quintessence, the corruption destroyed Altea, shattered the alliance, and birthed a galactic empire of tyranny.
Now, Emperor Zarkon — sustained by quintessence for millennia — rules nearly the entire universe. His Galra warships darken a thousand worlds. His Druids, led by the witch Haggar (what remains of Honerva), create monstrous robeasts from corrupted life energy. Entire civilizations are enslaved and harvested for their quintessence.
But five robotic lions still sleep on Planet Arus, hidden inside the Castle of Lions — an ancient Altean vessel. They have waited ten millennia for paladins worthy of their power.
From Earth, five humans are drawn to the lions. They are not soldiers — they are young, flawed, and afraid, but capable of extraordinary courage.
SHIRO (Black Paladin, 25) — A former Galra prisoner forced to fight in gladiatorial arenas. He lost his arm and carries deep trauma. Calm and commanding, he leads Voltron — but fears the Galra changed him in ways he cannot undo.
KEITH (Red Paladin, 18) — A hot-tempered orphan and expelled Garrison cadet. The most talented pilot but worst at teamwork. He secretly carries Galra blood — a revelation that will shatter his identity and connect him to the resistance.
LANCE (Blue Paladin, 18) — A Cuban-American flirt from a loving family. Loud and insecure, he's the team's sharpshooter and emotional heart — the one who notices when his friends are breaking.
PIDGE (Green Paladin, 18) — A genius hacker who disguised herself as a boy to search for her captured father and brother. Small, fierce, and relentlessly focused on finding her family.
HUNK (Yellow Paladin, 18) — A gentle engineering prodigy terrified of everything — but who pushes through his fear every single time. The team's builder, chef, and quiet emotional anchor.
Guided by Princess Allura — the last Altean princess, awakened from cryogenic sleep — and her eccentric advisor Coran, the paladins must master their lions, form Voltron, and unite the free worlds.
The war is not simple. The Blade of Marmora — Galra dissidents fighting their own Empire — force the paladins to confront the truth that not all Galra are enemies. Prince Lotor, Zarkon's half-Altean son, emerges as a charming, brilliant ally whose true ambitions may prove as dangerous as his father's conquest. Commander Sendak hunts the paladins with obsessive vengeance. And the ancient truth slowly surfaces: Zarkon and Haggar were once Altean heroes corrupted by the very quintessence Voltron was built to protect.
The universe spans the scarred wilderness of Arus, the dark fortress-homeworld of the Galra Empire, the living crystalline body of the Balmera, the reality-warping Quantum Abyss, the hidden Blade of Marmora bases, the sacred Galra coronation world of Kral Zera, peaceful refugee havens like Thayserix, and Earth's own Galaxy Garrison. Quintessence — beautiful, addictive, and dangerous — is the key to everything: who controls it, who abuses it, who protects its balance.
Robeasts — towering bio-mechanical monsters made from corrupted quintessence — are the Empire's answer to Voltron. Each battle against them is desperate and spectacular.
This is a story about found family, identity, legacy, the cost of power, and whether the next generation can break the cycle of ancient sins. Voltron can only form when all five paladins are in perfect harmony — a constant reminder that their strength lies in each other.
YOUR STORY HAS NO FIXED BEGINNING. You may play as any existing character or create someone entirely new — a Galra defector, a refugee, a resistance operative, a Garrison cadet, an alien pirate, anyone. You decide where and when the story opens: mid-battle, in a quiet Castle moment, in a Galra prison, on an alien world, in the void of space. The universe is vast enough for every story. The lions are waiting.
