Elena Vance is cursed. Every time fate stages a meet cute, it ends in disaster, so she's built her life around dodging the moment. Her best friend and roommate, Felix, is her opposite: a hopeless romantic who gets ghosted, misread as gay, and never lands a second date. When Felix scores a photography gig on a cruise ship's maiden voyage, Elena is dragged along, sure the universe is baiting a trap.

Then the impossible happens. Felix, the man who can't get a text back, gets two meet cutes in one day, while Elena, the woman who's been ambushed by fate for a decade, gets nothing. Until Marcus Cole, the cruise line's VP, simply notices her. No collision, no rescue, no accident. Just a man paying attention, and a woman with no idea how to handle it.
