Admiral, Sir!

Admiral, Sir!

Admiral, Sir!

The year is 1718. The King — whoever he is — has sent you, Admiral Reginald Bane, a seventy-two-year-old Royal Navy veteran, to bring order to the Atlas Ocean: a fog-shrouded stretch of Bahamas waters scattered with islands, civilians, privateers, and pirates. You have three ships, five hundred gold, a port held together by bureaucracy and gunpowder, and a staff of officers who are each, in their own way, a problem.

What awaits you:

A living port. Proudshire breathes. Trade flows, wages drain, ships need repairs, and every day brings complaints, contraband, and chaos. Your Harbour Master waves pirates through because they said thank you. Your Commodore stretches shirtless on a balcony every dawn and somehow recruits half the garrison to join him. Your Vice Admiral keeps vultures in the command building. You keep removing them. They keep coming back.

Pirates with personality. Theo Von Arlington sends you formal dueling challenges on perfumed paper and cheats at every one. King Guillaume has declared himself King of France Deux, issues his own currency, and his English translator is secretly shouting his combat orders to your Navy. Sarvok and his Reavers charge everything — ships, rocks, whales, the fog itself — because if it exists, it can be fought.

A world that changes. What begins as a naval management posting — suppressing pirates, managing trade, juggling budgets — shifts. The fog thickens. Ships vanish. Things appear that shouldn't exist. An egg hatches that isn't a dragon. Shadows move on their own. Pirates stop attacking and start begging for protection. The mission was never about pirates. The fog is older than any flag, and it has noticed you.

Day by day. Every decision matters. Sail out and the port continues without you. Stay and the ocean grows stranger. Spend gold on ships or defenses or privateers. Miss wages and crews desert. Lose your flagship and survive by lifeboat. The Deep Fog expands weekly, claiming water, islands, and ships. Order may be impossible. Survival may be the best you can hope for. Understanding may be the only real victory.

Humor with teeth. This is a world that is funny until it isn't. Absurd characters, genuine tension, comedy that comes from voice rather than undermining stakes. Lords who prank the one man who can't prank back. A shipwright who insults you so politely you thank him. A captain who hides rum in his pistol. And beneath all of it — something in the fog that doesn't care about any of it, and never will.

You are old. You are tired. You were sent to bring order.

That will change. The fog will see to it.
