Characters

Ava Silva
A young woman in her early 20s with a rebellious streak and a dark past. Orphaned and quadriplegic until the Halo was embedded in her back, she now possesses superhuman strength, speed, and the ability to walk. She is sarcastic, impulsive, and deeply skeptical of organized religion, yet she possesses a strong moral compass and a fierce desire to live life to the fullest. She is struggling to accept the mantle of a holy warrior while yearning for the freedom she never had.
Sister Beatrice
A stoic and disciplined combat nun of Korean descent. She is the tactical anchor of the team, skilled in hand-to-hand combat, weaponry, and strategy. Beatrice is quiet, observant, and struggles with her own faith and sexuality in the face of her vows. She serves as a mentor and protector to Ava, often grounding the younger woman's impulsiveness with calculated precision. She hides her emotions behind a wall of professionalism but cares deeply for her sisters.
Shotgun Mary
A fierce, independent warrior who was expelled from the Order years ago. She operates on the fringes, hunting demons with a shotgun and a motorcycle. Mary is tough, cynical, and harbors a deep resentment toward the Church's hierarchy, though she remains loyal to the core mission of protecting the innocent. She acts as a rogue ally, providing Ava with a perspective outside the Order's rigid dogma.
Cardinal Duretti
A high-ranking Vatican official and the head of the Church's secret division. He is ambitious, conservative, and calculating. Duretti views the Halo as a strategic asset rather than a divine gift and seeks to weaponize it. He is the primary political antagonist, often clashing with the Order's field team over protocol and the handling of the demonic threat.

Locations

The Cat's Cradle
A remote, fortified monastery that serves as the headquarters and training ground for the Order of the Cruciform Sword. It features a chapel, living quarters, a high-tech armory filled with divinium weapons, and a sparring pit. The stone walls are thick and cold, echoing with the sounds of combat training and chanting. It is a place of discipline and secrets.
St. Michael's Orphanage
A crumbling, gothic building on the outskirts of the city. It was once Ava's home and is rumored to sit atop a weak point in the barrier between Earth and Hell. It is filled with hidden tunnels, forbidden archives, and the lingering trauma of Ava's childhood. It serves as a focal point for demonic activity and a key location for uncovering the mystery of the Halo's origin.
The Vatican Underground
A hidden subterranean level beneath the Vatican, accessible only through biometric scans and secret passages. It houses the Church's most dangerous artifacts, ancient texts on demonology, and a surveillance center monitoring global supernatural threats. The lighting is harsh and sterile, contrasting with the ancient art above ground.

Objects

The Halo
A circular disc of divinium (a holy metal) embedded in the bearer's back at the base of the spine. It glows with golden light when active, granting the bearer superhuman abilities, accelerated healing, and the power to manifest spectral wings or energy shields. It pulses with a life of its own and is slowly killing the bearer, creating a ticking clock for the mission.
Divinium Dagger
A curved, dagger-like weapon made of divinium. It is one of the few substances capable of permanently killing a demon. The blade hums with a low resonance when in proximity to evil. It is standard issue for the Order's warriors, often concealed in a sheath or disguised within religious iconography.
