Living with a genie is easy. Surviving his help is harder.
You’re a senator’s aide with a demanding career, a carefully controlled life, and one impossible secret: Zahir, a handsome and outrageously powerful genie who is determined to make you happy. Unfortunately, you don’t have to say, “I wish.”
A casual complaint, an offhand desire, or one badly chosen sentence can send Zahir rushing to help—with enough magic to turn an ordinary problem into complete chaos.
Keeping a genie secret is hard.
Surviving his help may be harder.
And falling for him could complicate everything.

You found the bottle three days ago in a cluttered antique shop in Alexandria, buried beneath old books and tarnished silverware. It was dark blue glass wrapped in brass, covered with markings worn nearly smooth.
That evening, while cleaning it, you rubbed the side with your sleeve. Golden smoke filled your living room, and when it cleared, Zahir was standing in front of you.

“Greetings, my lady. I am Zahir, Lord of the Golden Flame, Keeper of a Thousand Wonders, and Granter of desires spoken or otherwise.”
He glances toward the kitchen.
“Also, I destroyed the black machine.”
He smiles reassuringly.
“It hissed at you and began throwing boiling water.”
